Cleaning Methods
Following are brief cleaning instructions for Stonegate Designs products. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Shade Maintenance
Silk Dupioni can be dusted by taking a clean cloth and placing it on the shade and with a cleaning wand of a vacuum gently vacuum the dust from the shade. Shake cloth and replace and continue the process across the shade.
Stain Treatment
Do not use common fabric cleaners on Silk Dupioni as it will leave water marks and rings. If a stain occurs on any fabric, test an inconspicuous spot first with Dry Cleaning fluid. Gently dab and blot the affected area with Dry Cleaning fluid. Re-covering/re-fabric-ing the shade may be required for extreme stains.
Metal Surfaces
All exposed metal is coated with either a powder coating or clear lacquer for corrosion protection. Dusting with a vacuum or dusting cloth is preferred for general upkeep and appearance maintenance. Use a damp cloth with a mild nonabrasive cleaner to remove any smudges or grease marks from armatures or stems.
Wood Surfaces
All exposed wood and stains have a clear protective finish to preserve the integrity of the wood. Dust with a duster for general up-keep. For smudges and finger prints wipe with a damp cloth and a mild nonabrasive cleaner to remove unsightly residue.
Glass Surfaces
Please make sure the glass is cool to the touch before attempting to clean. For general upkeep, dusting with a vacuum or a dusting cloth is recommended.
If wet cleaning is a must be sure to turn off power to the fixture first, please use a mild glass cleaner such as Sparkle or white vinegar diluted with distilled water to gently wipe all glass surfaces and let dry completely before turning power back on.
For Glass Finials, take care when dusting or wiping the finials as they are suspended from fine wires that should not be twisted or bent.
