LED LAYOUT AND LUMINARY

Stonegate Designs is always researching the latest technology and developing exciting new lighting options. Although, LEDs are not a "new" technology per se, it is certainly one that has advanced greatly in recent years making it more affordable and attainable for projects of all sizes.

For almost a decade, LEDs have illuminated landmarks, airports, skyscrapers, tunnels, etc. - some running continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. LEDs can operate through a computer or a LED Controller. Either option utilizes a program allowing the user to create specific designs and color patterns.

LEDs offer low operation costs, energy savings, and reduced maintenance. If you are interested in using LEDs in your next project, contact one of Stonegate Designs' Contract Hospitality Experts at: 269-429-8323, ext. 377.

ACRYLIC VS. GLASS

Acrylic and glass in lighting designs each offer their own advantages and disadvantages.

Before, glass was considered the superior option. Glass doesn't discolor or fade; it's easier to clean and maintain; plus a larger catalog of color options were available. Also, glass wouldn't warp or change shape.

Acrylic was selected when weight and price were an issue. Acrylic is not only light in weight, but light on the budget. However, recent advancements in acrylic formulas and technology have greatly improved the look and quality.

Typically glass is more expensive. However, costs for acrylic increases when injected polymers, UV protection additives, or very specific colors are added. Higher quality acrylics are more expensive than glass, and new additives can keep acrylic from discoloring over time.

From a distance, acrylic looks like glass - most people can't notice a difference. Up close, there may be visible differences. Color, design, quality and thickness all have an impact.

With all of the advancements in acrylic, the one area where it cannot compete with glass is close-to bulb-situations. Heat projected by incandescent, fluorescent, and halogen bulbs has zero impact on glass, but some acrylics can melt or warp.

Consult one of Stonegate Designs' Custom Lighting Experts if you are considering a project that needs to include glass or acrylic at: 269-429-8323, ext. 377.

LIGHTING A DAMP LOCATION

Stonegate Designs is perfect for anyone searching for creative lighting to accent any interesting space; our UL Damp Location lighting allows that style and ambiance to carry over into locations generally not associated with high-end lighting, such as spaces with steam or potential water splash, exterior or interior.

UL Damp Location lighting can be installed in any area that may be subjected to dampness, condensation of moisture, or water splash.

Ventilation is necessary to extract the accumulation of moisture at the luminaire. Common applications would be in a bathroom over a vanity, tub, or shower; in a kitchen above a sink; or indoor spas, saunas, and pools; or outdoors under a canopy, marquee, or open roofed porch.

We ask the right questions to learn about the installation site, so that we can help you make a better, more informed decision.

Manufactured in the USA by people who take pride in their work, every detail counts. Each masterpiece hand-crafted by Stonegate Designs’ skilled artisans, offers endless design possibilities for any environment - indoor or outdoor.
